WRITTEN BY: COMMISSIONER
These are the award nominees for Season 7 with winners coming very soon. We also have the list of winners for Season 6 underneath as we never officially posted on the site even though most know who the winners are. More information on the prerequisites for the awards can be found by clicking directly on the 'ABOUT' tab. Season 7 was the most competitive season we have had to date. So many incredible players and ballers that put on a show weekly. Narrowing down nominees and winners is always a tough task but we will try and do our best with the information at hand. Congrats to all the nominees on a terrific season!!! (minimum 6 games played to qualify for awards)

AJAHMO CLARKE (CLIPPERS) - 18.1pts/4.5rebs/3.0asts/1.4stls/2.0blks - 52.1% - 33.3% - 50%
AWARD WINNER: MICHAEL MINES (CAVALIERS) - Mr. Mines absolutely turned his franchise from being a fringe playoff team to a contender in a short period of time. He was 5-1 in the games he played and his impact on the team was incredibly significant. He led the league in scoring at 26.5pts per game and in FG% at 62% which is mindblowing to say the least. The numbers speak for themselves but his leadership on the court was also a big factor in him getting this award. He encouraged his guys and got them in spots where they can succeed. He had a couple allstar worthy players (Abeku only played 3 games with him) but the majority of the team was unproven and young. He was extremely clutch in the late stages of the game with the Warriors game being the cherry on top as he drilled the game winner at the buzzer! But he also iced other games with his freethrow shooting (93%) and just overall offensive awareness. He isn't the biggest, strongest or fastest player in ETBL but he is probably the smartest and a certified bucket getter. So many deserving individuals this season but Mikey just stood slightly above the rest. Congrats to everyone on a terrific Szn 7.
GM OF THE YEAR
RANDY CHO (CLIPPERS)
NITHARSHAN MANORATNAM (HEAT)
BAVI VIGNES (CAVALIERS)
OMAR RAMASAMY (BOBCATS)
AWARD WINNER: NITHARSHAN MANORATNAM (HEAT) - Another tough award to hand out in Season 7 but when it came down to doing the most with the least...Nitharshan Manoratnam of the Heat stood out from the rest. GM of the year is not simply the team that has the best record (that would be very anticlimactic and boring tbh) but the person who can get the most out of his team based on the talent on the team. Plus other factors such as leadership, direction, organizing practices, and making tough decisions. Nitharshan did that in spades in Season 7 and brought them to a 6-4 record and with the 6th overall seed. The team clearly overachieved especially considering they had no allstar players selected this season. Like most GM's he had to deal with player minutes and player usage while keeping morale high which is a difficult task in a very competitive league. Nitharshan showed that he is more than capable of doing that and kept his guys engaged and motivated throughout the season. Their biggest losing streak was only 2 games and they beat a couple of the best teams in the league while managing to keep it close with the eventual Champs. This is a regular season award and Nitharshan should be proud of the success they had. Excellent season and we shall see what Pat Riley has in store next time.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
AJAHMO CLARKE (CLIPPERS)
MAYO SPENCER (SIXERS)
SHAKEIL PINDER (WARRIORS)
TYRELL LEOTAUD (RAPTORS)
DAMION DAVIS (KINGS)
KAREEM JACKSON (SIXERS)
ROSE SHIPLEY (CAVALIERS)
SHAVAUGHN REID (LAKERS)
AWARD WINNER: MAYO SPENCER (SIXERS) - We have had some terrific newcomers to the league in the last few seasons and Mayo Spencer continues that streak for us. He had a big time debut season averaging over 21 points on 48% shooting while adding over 6 and half rebounds and 2 and half assists. He made huge plays for his team and put them in a position to win consistently. The Sixers really struggled whenever he headed to the bench to rest or when he was in foul trouble. So there is no question about the size of the impact he had on his team throughout the season. Another award where there is just so many deserving individuals who all had great seasons but Mayo's production and effectiveness was major to everything the Sixers did. He definitely had consideration for MVP but he will certainly settle for this award and look to have another terrific season in the fall.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
NABIL IBRAHIM (THUNDER)
JAHLOVE LYNCH (CLIPPERS)
DUZAN INDRASITHU (PACERS)
ROSE SHIPLEY (CAVALIERS)
KINGSLEY YEBOAH (MAGIC)
AWARD WINNER: NABIL IBRAHIM (THUNDER) - Defence is often an underappreciated part of the game but these individuals took pride in it. Once again, a case can be made for all these individuals but the guy that stood out with the eye test and with the actual numbers was Nabil Ibrahim! 12 steals and 15 blocks while guarding the other teams best defender night in and night out. He was a big reason why the Thunder had the success they did and eventually running the table. He can certainly guard one to 4 and switched between them so easily. His wingspan and quickness just made life hell for his opponents and often times they would be left out the play as they were not creating enough quality shots or turning the ball over. He would often times pick up players as soon as they crossed half court and on occasion picked them up full court to really give the opposing team fits. To top it off his IQ on defence and just the overall defensive awareness was top tier. Everyone displayed their greatness on defence and congrats to all the nominees.
6TH MAN OF THE YEAR
KAILASH SUBRAMANIAN (HEAT)
HASAN CHAUDHARY (GRIZZLIES)
MALIK TANTAWI (ROCKETS)
AWARD WINNER: KAILASH SUBRAMANIAN (HEAT) - Kailash had a season to remember and considering how young he is and how talented he is...there is no limit on how great he can be. He showed a ton of maturity in a men's league and quickly became someone the Heat relied upon to get buckets and make defensive plays. He averaged over 11pts per game on 48% shooting and although he made mistakes at times he was able to learn from them and still not let it affect his game. Scoring 20 against a tough Pistons team and 24 against the former Champs was incredibly impressive and that was a big reason why he is the 6th Man of the Year. No moment was too big for him and if it was he certainly didn't let it show on the court. Some players have empty stats or stats that do not contribute to winning but that was not the case here. Every bucket seemed to be crucial to all of the Heat victories in this Elite Division and some were under pressure in big moments down the stretch. Congrats to Kailash and congrats to all the nominees for a great season.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
ARISH BRADLEY (BUCKS)
KEERTHANAN KUGATHASAN (HEAT)
ARIAN NEJAD (THUNDER)
AWARD WINNER: ARISH BRADLEY (BUCKS) - This would be the hardest season to win 'Most Improved Player' because of how competitive and talented the league was. So we were hoping someone would take on that challenge to greatly improve their play while playing against tons of amazing teams and players. Arish Bradley did exactly that as he was one of the Bucks best players and had a solid season to say the least. He came into the season in great shape and looked way more mobile which helped him on both ends of the floor. The impact he had on the team and game went beyond the stats and he was consistently the x-factor for the team. The Bucks did not have the success they envisioned but Arish came to play each game and was determined to be a much better version of himself compared to the previous season. Congrats to all the nominees.
